  1. Hi Guys, I saw this Merida and fell in love.. Its a really great looking bike and i'm only looking for entry level as MTB is my main game ! I then came across the Fugi for R2000 less and after doing some research it seems spec for spec they are pretty much the same ?? I'm heading towards the Fuji, its a lot cheaper and its not bad looking at all. B) Could anyone give some advice, maybe someone has either of these bike ? Option 1 - 2012 Fuji Newest 3.0 - R4300 Option 2 - 2013 Merida Race Lite 900 - R6100 http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/523737_10151227837461322_433822199_n.jpg
  2. Hi, I'm am in the market for a 13k 29er MTB. The one that best suits my wallet is the Merida BigNine TFS 900-D. 2012 weighs in at 12.7kg, wieghed it in the shop. I assume the 2013 range is lighter? I beat all my regular ride(Giant ATX840 2002 26") times on the loan Merida and fell in love with it.Not sure if it was the big wheels up the hills or the 30speed vs the 24speedster. 3.5km from bottom of majic forest to top at 182m incline: Giant ATX840 2002 = 19min25sec Merida BigNine TFS 900-D 2012 = 16min26sec The shops now have the 2012 and 2013 coming soon, does anyone have a picture of the 2013 looks like and the specs? Also some feedback if this is a good choice? The Giant XTC 29er2 is in same price range, but low spec and the jump to the next level is about 5k in the giant range. Scott Scale 940 also looks promising if I had to push the money bar a bit, but sat on one and didn't feel right, the merida felt better. Any advice and specs?

  5. Borborygmi

    Merida 99

I would like to have some comments on this bike. The XT version. The CF frame, one level up received a good review in the Tread magazine recently, but is this one worth it? R16000 new at LBS, with XT components and Deore brakes, with Alex rims, Fox fork and DT Swiss rear. I like the aggressive geometry and would like to use it for short rides on twisty single track mostly.
Kan julle my raad gee asb.
  7. which bike did you decide on here... happy?
  8. Anyone know anything about this bike ? Is it any good ?
  9. Which one of the two are the better option to buy? Any first hand reviews would be appreciated..
  10. Hi all Looking at my initial MTB purchase and trying to choose between a new Scott Aspect 10 or a (barely used) 2010 Merida Matts TFS 900. The prices are more or less the same give or take R250. Any advise?
  11. I'm concerned - just this weekend I spoke to a guy with a Merida 96 - he also had a cracked lower rear suspension link - just like the guy in in the previous posting. Both cracked in the same place.... Both my fiance and I ride 96ers - mine less than a year old. Seems like there is a design issue there? Anyone else had a problem?
  12. Can someone help me I will post pics. I am looking to sell my Merida HFS 1000. It is in good condition full XT. I am looking for a 29er the bike shops will give me crap for my 26er. What price can I look at selling privately?
  13. Deciding between these 3 to purchase. Which one is best, any other suggestions are welcome. My riding is recreational, but fast single track riding is what I ride most. http://www.merida-bikes.com/en_za/bike/2012/9/MTB+Full+Suspension/Ninety-Six+CF+XT-D http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-za/bikes/model/anthem.x.2/10744/53396/ http://www.scott-sports.com/us_en/product/11255/61164/221693

  15. I'm looking at buying the Merida ONE-TWENTY CARBON 4000-D that is discounted on Cycle Factory. The bikes details: http://www.merida-bikes.com/en_za/bike/2011/9/MTB+Full+Suspension/ONE-TWENTY+Carbon+4000-D I have a couple of questions: 1. Does anyone own one of these bikes and have any feedback on it? 2. As I'm in JHB I would need to get the bike here, what are the possible ways to do this? 3. Is there anywhere in JHB that I can see the bike and even better sit on / ride it? Or who are the Merida distributors in JHB. I have checked the net and the Merida website but neither has really yielded anythings. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

  17. My bicycle was stolen from inside my student house between 10pm thursday 26 April and 10 am Friday 28 April. The thief walked through the house from the back door all the way to my room door on the other side of the house to my bedroom door where my bike was standing. There were many laptops and cell phones in the house and other valuable items. But the bicycle is the only stolen item. The bicycle is a Merida TFS 800 2010/2011 model. Description of natable features: >The frame is black and lime green >A white Fork >Red bull sticker kit > 2 Livestrong stickers >White wheels and Fork
  18. Rumours have it that the 96 is replaced by a 99 for 2012. If these spy shots are correct, then they have gone totally backwards!!!!! This setup is just not looking nice. Note the Merida Team colours on the bumper of the vehicle - seems like the rumours might be true. Merida Ninety-Nine, spyshots!
  19. Hi Guys and Gals I work in Nuffield in Springs. Yesterday morning I was standing outside having a cup of coffee, when two guys road past me, one on a new Onetwenty, and the other on a Matts TFS, also looked new. These are not the your typical guys who would be riding these kind of bikes. I have notified bike shops and local clubs. If anyone knows of anyone missing these bikes, feel free to contact me for more info. This morning the TFS had a basket contraption built on the front. lol. Just a heads up.
  20. Any recommendations? I'm thinking of upgrading from my GT Karakoram 3.0 29er to a full suspension bike with which I can jump a bit more.
  21. Hi Guys, Please give me you expert opinion on which bike I should get: Merida TFS 100: http://www.cyclelab.com/products/MERIDA%20MATTS%20TFS%20100%20(2012).aspx OR GT Avelanche 3.0: http://www.gtbicycles.com/2012/bikes/mountain/trail/2012-avalanche-3-0

  23. Achtung y'all! Would it be worth making the abovementioned swap? Besides riding a more 'boutique' frame which does appeal to me
  24. Hi guys, i am just waiting for the 3rd Jan for the suppliers to open to get conformation on a exact price, but was told it will be around the 5.5k mark. Is that a good deal for a first time MTB buyer? Bike in question : Merida Matts TFS 500
