Why don't people ever look at the Aliante? I found it more comfortable then Arione.

Aliante = MTB?

Why would you want to put a XTR derailer on your roadbike?????

IT IS NOT! Barloworld uses the Arione and Aliante and Robbie uses the Aliante. The Gobi is for MTB.

I am looking to buy a new saddle,have been considering all these options mentioned in this post,the decision just gets harder the more you read up on saddle choices.Seems it could be an expensive exercise to finally get to the right saddle.

My butt seems to get on with Fizik saddles, I've got both the Aliante (on my MTB) and a Arione (race bike) and both are very comfy. I've also ridden the Pave to destruction so I would recommend any of these three.

I recently gave the Spesch Toupe a wiz and although it was comfy some of the time, I could not get it constantly so. I also have a San Marco Regal (Robbie McEwan replica) and its pretty comfy aswell.

No guarantees that the money you spend on a saddle will work out, but your best bet is to go with what seems the most popular choice. Saying that I did ditch an SLR after a couple of weeks and surprisingly enough a Flite Ti, both of which felt bad.

Possibly one of the hardest component choices you'll have to make, good luck.
