Its a nice looking bike especially with that nice big De Rosa branding on the frame. Unfortunately you're paying a huge premium for that branding. The 838 is exactly the same frame that Ribble were using for their own branded frame called the Stealth. Ribble were selling that frame for less than 500 GBP, so you could easilly build up an identical bike to the De Rosa for about 10K less.

So, if you want to pay R10000 for a nice big De Rosa sticker on a Taiwanese bike I suppose its not a bad deal.

De ROsa bikes are really cool and has pedigree... Some of the best looking paintjobs out there too!

But R20k is a lot for a Veloce specced bike?

This is the company that make the frame for De Rosa. Ignore the ISP, can be ordered from them with or without.

You can also buy the frame direct off eBay for $508.

There you have it...If you want to get a de Rosa. get a proper one. Merak or Idol, they are sweet!

But steer clear of the cheaper rebranded frames. Soem Italians do that thoug, I remember the Guerciotti Cartesio and Ciocc Black Pearl was exactly the same Dedacciai frame a couple of years ago...

Hmmm, if its made in Taiwan, paint quality etc may be better than on Italian made frames.

The paint job combined with the white components looks spectacular.

Veloce gruppo is entry level for Campy, and also 10s (not 11s as in Chainreaction's pic.) New price for gruppo is around R4k. Wheels R1.5k - also written as Racing 7s, which is not the Racing 5s shown in the pic.

I agree that R20k is steep for the spec, and there will be some postage, VAT and customs duties added.

Yip, and if you want a frame made by someone who's surname ends in De Rosa then get a Titanio. Each one is hand made by Danilo De Rosa, Ugo De Rosa's eldest son.
