How does this guy get a D start for the Argus?

If my seeding is right for me, then that's all that matters. It is, except I dont live up to it, as I make sure I do Bela Bela amd/or Carousel every year.

The seeding is sometimes a bit of a mystery. My son also got a D seeding this year, which was a bit of a surprise to him, as his last Argus (or any seeding race) was the gale force ride in 2009. The year before that he did not ride (2008). So no real history, except his earlier results, which does include some substantial sub 3s.

(As he did a total of 1 road ride in preparation for the 2011 Argus he started with me low down in the alphabet soup.)

There are some of us that would like to improve and go up the seeding ladder, for us it is important to understand how this works, so its constructive to post in a cycling forum where someone more expereinced may have an answer.

 

For those that merely cycle for th fun of it and are more social, I agree it would not seem constructive to you but then dont read posts that you obviously not interested in...Go do something more constructive.

Perhaps your initial question then should have been "How does the seeding process work with regards to my times in seeding events?" Instead you led with the results page of an unknown individual and the undertone of cheating inferred.

Well I think he did cheat.

Or had a inside connection (which in my mind is still not the right way to climb the ladder)

 

He has no previous record of record times or any other prevailing reason why he would have been awarded the high started group.

Anyways I have emailed the cycletour as they are the guys that should have the answer if they come back I will post the response, could be there was something else they took into account which is not evident.

 

For now the current is you have to ride one of the seeding events:

 

Burger, 99'er , or previous Argus if you in Cape Town and based on the best time you achieve in the above you will be seeded accordingly.

 

Also I think PPA is different to Cycletour seeding, not sure about this though.

I also understood it the same way....but not I see that it is the SEEDING that is in question....I could have answered that question for you with 3 letters...PPA....they are in bed with racetec and hence seeding is like a 13 sided dice....

The way i understand the seeding is that they use certain races that qualify for seeding. Your best one of those races counts. I ride Argus with my wife and they seed us according to my seeding only.

I have added the ones that should have been taken into account and he would not have even made the K group with those times, hence the post.
