im not sure i buy that - how can he be riding in $ and be unaware of that rule?

either way - ignorance is no excuse.

still - it does suck

Fun...he's 18 years old! I am 46. I've done 11 Argus's and I didn't know the rule existed. But, you are right - ignorance is no excuse. That's probably why he hasn't offered any excuses. He actually said, "What the Hell!! I'll ride from $ again next year." He doesn't exactly struggle on a bike. He certainly didn't just "scrape into" $ either. It's not as if a no-result will affect his seeding or anything.

Damn shame. At that time he is a strong rider and has potential. Looks like he will be determined to beat it next year, now that he knows he is only doing one lap, unless of course, the k@k weather returns....

I wanted to do two laps for charity. I emailed the organisers and asked permission and they said no, it's not allowed, not even for charity, not even if I take my chip off.

Sad really.

Where does this leave F_A_I_L and his charity ***? I mean I'm all for supporting a charity/rider, but not if they flaunt the rules, and other riders are getting dq'd over the same thing?

F_R_A_I_L entered 3 times to do it = paid 3 entry fees.

Bizarre that the organisers allow that, but anyway, not to prolong the hijack, I see he's your mate, apologies if he did it legit, but after the wig episode, I'm out.

Nonsense. You can't enter the same event 3 times. The computers will have a melt-down for starters and won't accept more than one entry. Unless he used 3 different ID numbers all with their own transponders? Not!

Ah, right, the thick plottens. Maybe I didn't hi-jack then.

PIckles, this is why second lappers should go jump in a fish pond.

Slowbee......did you read that post to the bottom? Check the last paragraph brother (or sister). It's not all bad!

Pickles. No need to be angry. You simply asked what is wrong with second laps. I pointed you to my thread. Thats what is wrong.

And just in case. I know its wrong to do two laps. Cause everyone on the hub says so.

I'm not even remotely angry S.L.O.W...B.E.E ! Just for interest's sake tho, where on earth did you read that I ASKED WHAT IS WRONG WITH SECOND LAPS?

Julle mense lees sommer goed wat nie eers daar is nie!

Anyway, I have made a DIVINE rissotto for dinner....and I'm going to sit on my front stoep now and stare at the lights and fireworks at Sahara Park while I eat it! Lekker slaap xxx ;)

The boys IGNORANTLY broke a rule. Granted. But, pray tell Eistein, how did they "spoil it for the slower riders"? As it happens, the 4 boys who rode together the 2nd time replaced many a chain, fixed many a puncture and pushed many a fat old lady up the hills. They had FUN with the slower riders actually.

The organisers would never have picked it up without computer technology...so no kudo's necessary to them.

I was not looking for a whole lot of negativity. I was simply making people aware of what happened, so that, hopefully, it doesn't happen to them. Ignorantly. Geddit?

you are right pickles. My mistake. You asked how they spoilt it for the slower riders. They being them, did not soil it for others because they helped so many riders. However, those that did 2 laps that were not them, made it unpleasant. And that it is what I was highlighting.

My apologies for confusing what is wrong with second laps and spoiling it for others on the second lap.

Enjoy the rissotto and the fireworks.

"soil" it? Like skid marks? It was that terrifying for you, was it?

FRAIL's in a lot of poop(lol),4 laps is going to be a lot of disqualification for one person. Can offer you a buddies number who never rode so you have 2 laps covered, anyone else want to sponser FRAIL another round or two?

Then again as long as you do not abuse the tables on the 2,3 and 4th lap you may be alright??

Seriously though the youngster made a mistake, so what we have all made mistakes in our lives.

Big up to him though for doing 2 laps and still finding time to help people on the second lap, some of the people he helped might not have made the end without his help.

A mistake yes but NOT the end of the world!!
