for general basic riding you won't kneed hardcore pads... so look at something slim like the 661 Veggie guards.

But yeah, as mentioned, check out your local MX stores first. try on a few. They will be a little more bulky (due to their intended use) but you can get the sizing figured out

yup! IXS should be decent stuff. Hans Rey is sponsored by them and he's a legend.

 

As for the Troy Lees... yeah, it seems Troy Lee is taking it's sweet time in stocking CRC. I wanted the knee guards that look like those... but no stock! I also tried to find them locally... but the MX shops said the Troy Lee local agency is no more

no one should ever expect you to ride like the claw. That's an expectation us mere mortals cannot bare...

 

BUT...

 

wearing guards will seriously give you more confidence. More than a powerbalance band, haha!

yeah... I heard they were back. Phoned the head office to get prices on knee guards. Got told to email. The emails bounced back as "undelivered"... so I figured they were out of SA again, haha!

Getting it from CRC very quick and hassle free. I like 661 Evo pads but they are a bit pricey. I have some 661 Veggy Wraps and 661 Chicken Wings. They work well but are neoprene and a bit hotter than the breatable Evo's. The soft shell ones are more comfortable than hard ones. Their sizing charts are pretty accurate. See if any 2010 models are on special. Get knee pads as well while you are at it and learn to do small jumps and drops, then you can give the lycra crowd the finger.

You get nailed with duties on pads from crc.

Rather go to your local motorbike shop. Its cheaper than you think. I know the Thor stuff is very well priced.
