Spine of the Dragon mountain bike venture

Hello good people

 

Today is the first post of my social media campaign, following my progress on the Spine of the Dragon mountain bike venture.

Very simply, my bud Steve Thomas and I will be leaving Beit Bridge in a week's time, headed for Cape Point some 50 days and 3,500 km away.

Today and for the next few days it will the "warming up" period where I discuss the route, the background etc. Tomorrow, for instance, I will be inviting the entire SA mountain biking fraternity to help us fine tune our route. You are also invited to ride with us, at any stage, but hopefully at least the area around where you live.

 

Then lastly, for now, we'll be doing our damndest to raise as much money as we can for Operation Smile; if you don't know about it, that is one very good reason at least to check out what we are doing http://www.spineofthedragon.co.za/index.php/ride-for-smiles/

Hi All

I have great intentions of doing this route.  I was thinking of doing it in stages or for as long as work/time allows me.

Maybe this is premature as I have ordered the book and await delivery.

My real question is the feasibility and possibility of doing it solo?

Your recommendations and advice will be appreciated.

Sort of already made plans to start in early August........???

Wild camping where possible and keeping credit card usage to the minimal.
