Doesnt really surprise me, I have a version of TC that is not listed on the websites either.

There were a couple of minor updates from 2.4 to 2.6 ... nothing that you will really notice if you only started using the unit a while ago.

Here is Version 2.60

So you think I should maybe wait till 2.70 is up and running smoothly ?

Have you ever had any problems with your Garmin freezing? Twice when going to look at my history of activity's and I by mistake pressed enter to view laps before the activity had loaded my Garmin has frozen and I am not able to turn it off or go back, so I let the battery run flat. Do you think this could just be because I over loaded it with info before it had loaded or you think there could be a problem? Once it flat i recharge it and it works smoothly. What you think?

Got my issue fixed at last. Had to update GTC to version 3.61 (seems the older version crashes when the new edge 500 firmware is updated.

But, 3.61 only works with windows service pack 3, so had to install that 1st. Now its all working again

Ill look into the sporttrack option. At this moment im just a recreational cyclist trying to loose some weight. Dunno if i need all the plugins and other gizmos

Out of interest, there will always be a difference when viewing a .gpx or .gbd file (from a GPS) on Google Earth or Google Maps.

The mapsets used by GPS manufacturers take the curvature of the earth into consideration, while Google does not, showing the earth as a map laid flat.

The difference could be as little as a few metres, or sometimes a few hundred metres.

Upgrade if you feel like it buddy, I wont be doing so for at least another couple of weeks.

Worst that can happen if you discover a bug or problem, just roll back to the previous version.

Regarding the freezing, sometimes you just have to give the unit a bit of time to process whatever information it needs to process. Like when opening a .gpx route, it may seem like the unit froze but it is actually busy converting it from gpx to fit.

Dont think it is a problem but it helps to sometimes delete old workouts.

You dont need to let the unit run flat if it freezes either. Try pressing and holding in the ON/OFF button and then all the other buttons until it switches off (cant remember the order of pressing the buttons but it is a soft reset)

Or just connect it to your laptop with a usb cable which should also turn it off and start charging it.

You can use the free Trial version without any plugins and gizmos and it still kicks TC's ass with closed eyes & tied hands

When you say I should delete old rides, are they not deleted automatically once you upload all new activities onto your profile on garmin connect?

Posted

nope, they stay on the unit.

You have to manually delete them, you can do so on the unit itself or when when connected to your pc

Open the Garmin > Activities folder

There will be a lot of .FIT files with dates. Delete the old ones from here.

(make sure you have downloaded all the activities to your training programs before doing so)

Luckily I have listened to my own advice and stuck with what works, version 2.6

Some guys are now rolling back to version 2.6, inconsistent elevation bugs, multiple heartrate monitor pickup issues with inconsistent heartrate data!

If you haven't noticed the multiple heart rate monitors ... guess you havent done a race recently :P
