I'm helping my Dad out with adding a second bike to his Edge 500.

Not sure if i'm missing something but unable to find where to add the second bike?

Please help.

go to Menu > (hold the page/menu button in)

Settings > Bike Settings > Bike 1 (I think, my has been renamed already, it is the second option under Data Fields)

Bike Details> (there will be a drop down list with Bike 1, Bike 2, Bike 3)

Select Bike two and enter the relevant details.

You can rename them to make it easier like Pinarello, Giant, Trek or whatever you want!

The Edge 500 does not have a map no, it can not give directions but it records where you have been and this you can see on many different maps after downloading it, depending on which programs you use. Personally I dont use garmin Training Center and Garmin Connect is pretty *** too.

You can plot a route on something like http://ridewithgps.com/routes/new and the Edge 500 will tell you left in 500m, right in 50m, there will be a route to follow but no map.

Understood, thanks Tankman - makes the 500 quite appealing compared to the more expensive 750 and 800. I specifically like the temperature feature of the 500.

Took me a while how to suss out selecting / configuring the 2nd bike, but yea its done from Settings- bike- then a drop down list, select the bike 2 (or whatever) and name / enter the other parameters. Then when it comes to using it on the 2nd bike, you just go to the same menu and select the bike.

You see the route on Garmin Connect (or supposed to, its down now) Used to be on Google Earth, they changed it to Bing (what a pile of pooh that is) but you can get a Google Earth file by clicking on a button, and it will open Google Earth with the route loaded

All works well for me, had it almost a year and log all my cycling missions(except commuting)
