mix Posted May 5, 2011 Share hey guys and girls once again i need your expert opinion! I have a Merida Matts 100d nice bike, alivio components, tektro draco hyrdraulic brakes, RST Merida branded GIla fork, it is in great condition only done about 400 km. so i went to my LBS the other day and they had a Merida Matts 400d xc with xt components and a rockx shock dart 2, the bike is in good condition from what i saw and it felt great to ride oh alsoe the guy put on Kenda wheels. well the guys at my LBS said they would take mine as a trade in and i would pay in R500 for the 400d. i am seriously considering this and would like to hear your opinions. also the bike is a 20inch and mine is a 18 inch funny my bike has been feeling small of late and when i rode that 20 i was really happy with the size. guys any feedback is welcome! thanks in advance! SCHWINN LOVER Posted May 5, 2011 Share Your bike and the 400 are in the same condition, you like the 400 and the 400 has better components for a extra R500 it is a bit of a no brainer??What would it cost you to upgrade your bike to the same spec's as the 400,bet you going to fork out more then R500!! Eugene Posted May 6, 2011 Share That fact that you are getting a brand new bike and only paying in R500 is enough of an incentive to go new. Just makes me wonder how they can trade in your lower specced second hand bike for what seems to be a much higher specced version for such a small payin. Robrider Posted May 6, 2011 Share yeah, generally I would say wait and save for a much nicer bike. but for that amount I think its definitely worth it
AndreZA Posted May 6, 2011 Share By saying it's got XT components does it mean all the components or just the rear derailleur? Alot of manufacturers do that and the sales people are very quick to point out the single high end item. Full XT components are normally only fitted of higher end bikes and they NEVER have Dart forks.
