So I needed a new fork for my Zula. I had to choose between the Reba RLT and the Sid 120mm Dual Air systems.

So I did the normal thing and looked at CWC and they had no stock even though there website says they havethumbdown.gif. I looked on buycycle and chain reaction. Was not to keen on them as I am doing the wine to whales two day tour this weekend and needed the shock pronto. I phoned We Bike for a price which they gave to me. Same as Epic

I then phoned Epic Bikes in Wynberg which is less than 200m away from my office. I was told that they can get me a shock the next day and make a plan to fit it for me. Aylex gave me a discount as well as no charge to fit and set up. They were only 10% more expensive than buycylce and chain reaction.

Now the service you get at Epic is what counts the most. They may not always be the cheapest but its not always about the price. In the end I now have my new fork fitted one day after placing the order so I can now ride Jonkershoek tonight.

Thanks Epic Bikes, you guys rock clap.gifclap.gif

Which fork did you buy?

I went for the Reba RSL dual air 120mm travel. My Zula went from 12.3kg with a Fox Talus to 11.85kg with the Reba. Aftersome adjustments on the fly whilst riding Jonkershoek at night up and down Canary I started to enjoy the fork.

Noteto self -do not do a night ride with some seriously fast downhill single trackdudes at night with a new fork. It leaves you either trying to kill yourselfour rather accept defeat and just ride at your own pace whilst your mates waitfor you.

Climbing up canary I found that the fork was absorbing to much and not rolling over an obstacle. So I switched to lock out problem solved. I still need to tune the fork pressure for my riding style and then as they say in the Classics "Bring it On".

RE that 10% calculation. Did you include for the customs duty on the fork ... if not then that 10% factor shrinks even further.

RE the "hot chick" in the workshop .... she does not make coffee though where as the lady in front makes a mean cup .... so then you decide which one is hotter ... unsure.gif

Your right my deal gets better then and no issues with warranty if needed as they are local. As they say local is lekker, support your LBS.

I admire Lance and he is always there to help. There are very few guys like him around Cape Town because other shops just send the bike to "monkey" mechanics at the "backyard". They break my parts or don't correct my problem or put wrong way round...

I've got a lot of time for the guys down at Epic Bikes, I'm a relative novice but they always have time for me unlike a lot of shops in CPT!

Lance is a standup guy who is passionate about what he does. Just picked up an E.M.D 9 from Epic this afternoon - climbs like a moutain goat and is fast as Sh*T off a shovel!

Nice one Lance you're an artist

  • EMD with a Rock Shox Reba fork
  • Niner, flat bar (9 degree sweep-good for niners)
  • FSA stem and seatpost.
  • Alex 29er wheelset with Dt swiss double butted Stainless steels spokes, laced to Deore 10spd hubs (bit heavy not bad for me)
  • with Schwalbe Racing Ralphs on tubeless,
  • Shimano SLX groupset in 10spd with a XT 10spd rear derailleur<li>Hydraulic disc brakes (front rotor size 180mm and rear 160mm).
