So, anybody got a 42km entry for me? Don't feel like watching the All Blacks crush the Boks. Contrary to earlier posts, substitutions ARE possible for a R50 admin fee and provided there is a consent letter from the original entry holder.

Thanks FARMBIKE - much appreciated!! clap.gif Registered and in H. Please will all you racing snakes pass me within the first 30 minutes so that I can enjoy the next 4 1/2 hours at leisure. Hopefully some of you will still be around by the time I finish for a beer/hot chocolate afterwards??

Im already loving the race snakes bitching about slow riders and seeding, not that I am slow or a race snake, but c'mon peeps every single year seeding is a mess, and you will get noobs in front of you, you will get stuck in traffic, and you probably will run into a mommy and her 9 year old towards the end.

Though looking at the profile, if your as fast as you think you are you should be able to pass most of the slower riders quite quickly without hassle before you get to the bottlenecks.

2500 people sharing the same peace of earth, its obvious whats going to happen lol.

Covie - I share your race sentiment!!

You KNOW what you are in for when entering a mass participation race!! Rather chill and enjoy the scenery...race when you can and enjoy the suroundings & other participants in the mena time...

Anyone know if there are any good "spectator points" for the wifeys and little ones to come cheer on their ultimate heros?

I haven't ridden this in ages but the crossing at Hangbrug came to mind...are we going through there again and if so approximately how long after the start? Anywhere else?

OK did some very light research and found the map...

I'm also in F !!!

Not idea why though, I wasn't exactly fast last year. At least though I won't be stuck behind as many people this year. Last year I was in the 4th group for the 42km and had to over take people in the beginning.

see you tomorrow then...kyk net uit vir girl with long blond hair and pink jacket biggrin.gif

I know someone doing the 30km, why do you ask?

I'm doing the 30km also, just curious cause it seems everyone's either doing the 42 or 60! :)

Were does the single track start? Km what roughly? Im starting in H for the 42km race <_< <_<

That is the problem, I don't know as I never done this race before....I know at the Autumn Splendour De Doorns MTB race there were people of the long route infront of us on the single track....what a frustrating section, yet he doesnt move over, he will rather keep us behind....eventually I just went over the bush around him...

lol roadie not to be mean, but he is in front of you at that stage and does not have to give track if he/she does not want to, generally people that are slightly challenged on the technical sections will concentrate with every ounce of their being on staying alive.

Proper etiquette would be to ask in a nice way if you "may have the track please" and then its all up to the person in front of you to decide if they are willing to stop and pull over. 99% will do though from past experiance, but also remember allot of noobs dont know proper ettiquete and you might have to excersize some patience with them.

Hell youll get people walking the single track and not get out of the way, until you ask. But expecting people to just pull over at will, is paramount to me saying i suck on the hills so please everyone thats ahead of me can you wait for me at the top.

I still think at these really big "fun rides" they should give out a little manual, explaining to people what it means to hold the line, to cycle left on the track unless your busy passing, and those that want to pass to either notify passing left right center etc. And what it means when someone asks for track. Maybe things will go a bit smoother with less frustration all round.

I know that, we did ask him can we please pass, some people like to improve their times, and I am one of them....like some set a goal to finish, I set a goal to improve my time from the previous year...so you can understand the frustration wanting to go through a section keeping you up...or when saying passing on your right it does not mean they should go to the right then....

It is just a safety concern, at least we not like the pro's who tell the people 'F*^& off out of the way....' a lot of beginners get put off by stuff like that, all I find frustrating is asking someone if you can pass then he accelerates or just don't let you through at all. I agree with the briefing, will help people to understand to give way to faster people as it is also safer because then people don't randomly try to pass everyone and then causing accidents.
