I've had one or two pairs over the years. Great gloves, but don't mistake them for winter models, they won't add much warmth to your hands at all. Mainly, it's about keeping your fingers protected...

+1 mine still going strong since 2007, IMHO best quality there is, but not that warm

i love em..pawtector is my all time favorite glove, and already have some more fox gloves lining my basket over at CRC ;) For context, I've used 661, Fox and Alpinestars gloves, from DH to XC categories.

Comfy, good grip, warm enough for me even on my predawn road mission training rides during this current winter. It does breath a bit, which makes em a bit breezy when the fog rolls in or it's just plain brrrrr outside. But they can be pretty hot in summer. So when I'm pushing up, i take em off to dry.

I've bailed a few times wearing these gloves, but so far, they've been pretty robust. Point of importance to note: the wrist clasp comes nicely down the wrist so that section covers about 20mm from the heel of your hand down. This is important because of a big crash I had a year or two ago, where the glove was not that far down. I fell, hands out, and nearly grated my hands off at the wrist. Trying doing anything, especially potty and shower time if your hands are in post surgical wraps <_< If that glove (661) had more wrap down the wrist, it could easily have prevented the worst of that particular set of injuries.

Other than that, they look great! I'd recommend them any day :)

Cap, I've been a Fox nut since 1988, and i've probably worn all the fox model gloves out there. The epic ones are definatley the pawtector, hands down and i've raced with the pawtector, solo, flex air to mention a few.

Recently i have been given a pair of the Kenny Titanium gloves. You know when you slide a glove on and it just feels right, ticks all the boxes so to speak. Comfort & feel i can vouch for, durability i can't yet, i've only ridden 4 times with them.

They have the high cuff that you so deservingly are looking for, padding on the palm where it's meant to be and non slip rubber on the braking fingers. Give these a consideration, they are new on the market but i think they are here to stay.

I really like my Dirt Paws. Very versatile and while they not thermal gloves I find them plenty warm.

Also helps I paid equivalent of R140 when I bought them off Amazon.com in the USA.

Fox Dirt Paws were the first pair of gloves I ever owned (only started riding jut over a year ago)...

They were pretty decent, but the rubbery protection on the fingers started peeling away fom the fabric after a while.

After that I got some Thor Phase

These lasted longer, but evetually gave up the ghost just over a month ago.

Note: I'm harsh on gloves. I use them for riding (mostly jumping and DH), as well as when I'm weilding garned tools to build jumps.

Right now I'm using these:

So ar I'm loving them. And best of all, they only cost me R150!

must say fox quality of late is not so good.

i have old pawtectors from about 7 years ago that are in better nick than my pawtectors i bought less than 2 years back.

granted i was riding motox but thats what they were designed for.

apparently thor quality is pretty decent, never tried their gloves tho.

and i echo what everyone has said. pawtectors are breezy, they arent winter gloves. you can however get fox antifreeze gloves which may be useful, having not needed or used i cant comment on them, but the antifreeze has good reviews and has a removable liner for when it gets too warm.

I use Sidewinders and find these are perfect for DH. They are not too thin or bulky and give me the right amount of 'feel' through the bars.

For super protective gloves, check out the Bomber, the are just as comfortable as the above gloves, but with bulletproof polycarbonate knuckle guards and segments.

I got myself a pair of these because I have injured my hand and want to try protect my knuckles as much as possible.
