Matt Posted July 7, 2011 Share Hi all, Just got these on Facebook from Hub fan David Kearney at the Megavalanche 2011 Alpe d'Huez. More on the event:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZwMTcCohMI MEGAVALANCHE is a type of down hill course that first particularity is the start on line (opposite to SPRINT AVALANCHE races with an individual start), trail is between 15 and 25 km long with 2,000 - 3,000 m of negative height. That race is open as well professionnal riders as amateurs. Neither Cross-Country, nor Down Hill but a real discipline. Racing MEGAVALANCHE require many skills which are coming from MTB fundamentals, it means: strong, dexterity, endurance, sliding sensations, knowledge of how to manage effort and to fix well you bike, riding spirit, trajectories, flying sections, braking ... Cross Country riders and Down Hill ones will be on the same line on equal terms. Some will use their athletic power and endurance, during an hour of effort and others their technical skills on every trajectories and also go fast into tricky sections, jumps and so. But at the end everyone will fell sliding motions, using wonderful trails. http://www.avalanche...ez-la-mega.html Enjoy it Dave!
