divernick Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I have a 1/8" SRAM PC1 nickel plated chain - SS specific as I use a Blackspire Monoveloce chainring which is 1/8" only. I have found that my chain has stretched quite a lot in about 600km of riding. I had a "magic gear" which lasted about 200km before the chain stretched enough to force me back to my tensioner. Has anyone used a chain that is less prone to stretching?
Trackie Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I used cheap KMC 1/8th BMX chains on the track for many years - never had a problem with stretching. Either you're extremely powerful or it's a shite chain.

RodTi Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Have no idea what brand name - might also be the KMC(??) - was just told it's a strong (and cheap) BMX chain.... presumably also a 1/8th...

CyclesProSA Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 The best chain for Single speed or Track is the Izumi "V" Gold Track Racing chain (NJS), The stiffest chain made in Japan and produced specifically for keirin track racing professional riders, this chain will not stretch over time, NJS certified and stamped. For use with standard 1/8 size track chainrings and cogs. Gold chrome finish on every 2nd link; each other link is black. There is no better track chain in made in Japan right now. Not available in SA yet, can be found on the Net but they not cheap. I weill have some in Cape Town in a few weeks :-)
