Eldron Posted August 1, 2011 Share Any comments on Shimano XT 29" wheels? Plus side:Real tubeless with uninterrupted rim and no need for rim tape. Tyres seal really easily.Price - less than R3,800 for a set compared to almost R5K for the American Classics. Over R6K for other lighter wheelsets Minus side:~1,850g per set - not quite the lightest around. AClassics are 1,650gShimano insist on using bearing races instead of cartridge bearings - they say ball bearings spread the load better and have less rolling resistance but I prefer the ease of catridge replacement.
