How do I determine what road saddle to buy?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have gone through various saddles in my life and still haven't found anything that works very well for me. Admittedly my bikes set-up wasn't right due to a very long top tube but that's now been sorted with a new BMC pro machine that's the correct size.

I have tried a slr kit carbonio and a san marco Zoncalon but they are not the most comfortable. Not looking for more padding but maybe something in a different size and geometry? The major problem is that you cant realy try out a saddle before you have bought it and done 100km plus with it.

As I know specialized BG fit saddle got a measure pad to check the width of you seat bones, then they will recommend the correct size saddle. Not sure if this service available in SA..

That's the assometer. All Specialised stockists should have it. We've gotten quite advanced in SA.

Selle San Marco Concor or Regal - not light but Tom Boonen/Lance/Petacchi etc cant be wrong. I currently have the Concor light (not available in SA) and had a Regal until recently...

Expensive- true. But the events are amazing hey. I'm going own to SA from Moz for one week, and there is an event on the weekend I arrive and another in the weekend before I leave. And i just did 2 races this last weekend. I feel like a kid in a toy shop. And with all this riding I dont get saddle sores because i use an ordinary WTB saddle on my MTB. On my road bike I use a Specialised Toupe.
