Hehe, done, and here's the report! I nearly died, much tougher than army Vasbyt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Herewith my Chronicle:

I finished my 1st Paris-Brest-Paris on Thursday, a 1230Km (728mi) bicycle ride through Brittany from Paris and back, within 90 hours. It was very tough, with a very amateur cycling mistake made at the start that set the scene for a terribly difficult course of events. Herewith the chronicle of an event that required 29,000 Calories to complete - more than 100 energy bars! There are lots of life lessons here which I'll share in due course in my blog.

Enjoy!

I take my hat off to you Guy ....

Better still, do it in 2015!

I have a date with PBP to do it properly next time! I have seldom made such a hash of things, but the experiences keep you sane, and humble.

A huuuuuuuuge congrats to all that finished!! You are not mortal!!

Now imagine if you were there - I would have eaten properly, and we would have even TT'd the last 100Km like we did on the 400Km!

I think I must be mad. I'd never heard of the PBP until I saw GuyP's post - and now I'm totally hooked on the idea of doing the 2015 event. It's 3.5 years away and a crazy distance more than the few 100km rides I do locally, but the idea has really stuck in my head.

Kudos to you guys who did it in 2011 - and hopefully some of you will be considering the next one if I can find the money, time, and SO permission to give it a crack.

walkerr, mad is good smile.gif.

There's no doubt about it, if you've even the slightest inkling to do it, then just get out and do it! It will change your life forever.

There are lots of other ultra distance events around the world leading up to the next PBP in 2015 to cut your teeth on, like the 1400Km London-Edinburgh-London in the UK and the 1200Km Granite Anvil in Canada, both next year. My aim is now to build a fabulous base to be able to do both these rides in comfort, which I think are but a month apart.

I have also since found a huge positive impact of having done the ride on your professional branding.

While business folk you meet around the world may forget your name over time, they somehow never forget your PBP tales, so it becomes yet another form of professional differentiation, an increasingly critical dimension in an increasingly chaotic and competitive global business landscape! And the camaraderie and lifelong friendships you make from fellow ultra cyclists from 50 other countries is simply unbeatable!

Bonne chance!
