Thanks a million to Darryl-O for donating the Trek 1200 last night.

Much appreciated.

I'm sure it'll make a community commuter really happy and save them some taxi-money!

Does anyone have any old road brake levers (non-sti) that I could have?

I got the following request for a bike for a guy called Musi. I managed to build up a nice and reliable bike for him, consisting of a Felt MTB frame, donated by Missionman, and a bunch of parts from all over.

Morning Nick

I got your details from Debbie. I volunteer for an animal welfare

organisation known as the NDDF (Namaqua Dog and Donkey Foundation),

we do work in disadvantaged communities. We mainly concentrate our

efforts around the East Rand and Midvaal.

We have adopted a township called Etwatwa in the East Rand which is

a huge township and we have a volunteer there called musi he helps to

find sick and injured animals and he is our port of call where

owners go when their animals are sick. It is very difficult to cover the

whole area and we put out a request for a 2nd hand bicycle which

will allow Musi to cover more ground but no-one has as yet come forward

to donate one.

Below is Musi's story. If you are interested to see the work we do I

will gladly forward you our newsletter, please let me know.

In BARCELONA, we have Musi Zwane, and this is his story.

Musi is 37 years old, and was born in Piet Retief. He moved to

Barcelona in 1992 and lives with his partner Emma. They have a four

year old daughter called Nosipho.

Musi assists the ladies of Friends of Martin De Porres with their

work in the Informal Settlement and is our main contact for sick and

broken doggies.

He enjoys working with the animals and the people at Barcelona have

come to know that Musi is a place where they can bring unwanted or

sick and injured dogs because he will take them in without asking

any questions and then contacts us to help him with them.

According to him there are unfortunately still many people who

really do not care about the welfare of their animals but he is working

with us to try and change this. He says that he has seen a definite

improvement in the lives of the animals since we started working in

Barcelona and together with Musi's help, we are sure to continue

this trend.

It would be much appreciated if your organisation could help with a

bicycle.

Thanking you

MARIA MARQUES

Hey everyone,

I'm almost done building up this frame as an urban warrior single speed. I'll be riding it at the next Critical Mass in Joburg to advertise my initiative. I'm going to make it fancy and auction it off to raise funds for the initiative.

I have a few bikes in the final stages of build-up and need nominations for recipients. They are 700C road bikes with and without gears, drop bars, flat bars etc.

To date I have donated 8 bikes and am saving commuters about R3-4000 per month on transport costs.

I want to say thanks to Gerhard for donating a road bike (almost complete), a frame, wheels and tyres as well as a kiddies bike.

Much appreciated. I'll make sure they all get good homes!

Can anyone nominate a promising young rider that needs a race-ready road bike?
