cyclist hit in Cradle?

Just got a very sketchy report of a cyclist down in the cradle yesterday.

 

Anyone with a bit more detail?

I read yesterday on a Netcare911 report that a cyclist died in Krugersdorp. Not sure where but apparently struck by a bus and dragged for sometime. Not sure though if that's what you are referring to.

 

A 30year old woman got knocked off her bike this morning during the D2D race and is in critical condition

Yeah, I heard about the both the stories.

It brings up the issue of partial road closure.

I'm aware that a full road closure isnt always possible, but then the marshalling ought to be better, don't you think.

I really did feel quite vulnerable today, it may as well have been a open ride.

Offer your services as a Marshall or join a club and be available in the organisation and presentation of the race. That way Marshalling will be better, don't you think?

I heard that today's D2D was quite safe. I was there for my brother and he said that everything ran smoothly. I was up at the school and I could see quite a few ambulances coming from the route and going back. There did seem to be more crashes than usual, but from what I could see the medical staff sorted them all out pretty quick.

 

I hope that the critical cyclist turns out to be ok.

Well done! Many people complain and moan about this issue without even considering to offer their services.

I did the race and there was a nasty crash in front E group because people over lap wheels... I know it's a race & everyone is trying to do the best they can but I only just avoided the pile up - some groups where just to big to squeeze into one lane. I'm not criticizing, but it's just reality of road riding and there is most certainly an element of danger when u go out there whether it's from cars etc or other riders

Unfortunately a cyclist was killed by a bus in the cradle on Friday - Kromdraai Road.

Very sad, especially in an area that should be one of the safer one's for us cyclists.
