ALLMTB Posted September 21, 2011 Share Awesome to see older bikes getting a second chance on life. One question though...it seems like the stanchions the Marzocchi fork are the wrong way around...is that on purpose?
Azonic Posted September 21, 2011 Share Nicely spotted AllMTB... that is for sure not right... I can just imagine how bad the steering must be!! If I'm correct then that fork won't be able to compress past the fork brace. This should be fixed asap.
AndreZA Posted September 21, 2011 Share Yip, lowers were put on the wrong way around. It was right when the bike still had v-brakes. E1, can you give a close up of that brake mount you used. Edited September 21, 2011 by AndreZA

Look at the old V brakes on the "before" photo, they are the clue

mach7-7 Posted September 21, 2011 Share Awesome!. I love the old bikes of yesteryear.. Sorry to hijack thread but just wanted to add my baby that I just recently built up. A 1993 Ball burnished 6061 GT Zaskar that rides just as well as the day she was made... if not faster Haven't set the bike with my measurements but simply had to take a quick pic. Caerus Posted September 21, 2011 Share Why is that fork crown facing backwards ? Still trying to work it out, the clue had me even more baffled . The manual pic is showing it the other way as well
Big H* Posted September 21, 2011 Share Why is that fork crown facing backwards ? Ok I see that. Blush blush, must have happened last time I replaced the bushings and seals. Havent used it since then. This is again an example of how amazing the knowledge base on the Hub is. Barker

Swift01 Posted September 22, 2011 Share 2001 Gary Fisher Paragon. Had it painted this year (still got to make the stickers. This was my first real "racing" bike so I have a soft spot for it. Done the groot Marico and the 70km Cradle quest races on it this year, and basically ride all the time with it. Great training bike. Note still has the V-brakes, although I should be getting the adaptor for the rear disc brakes soon, so it may get an upgrade
Swift01 Posted September 22, 2011 Share Here is a photo of what the bike used to look like. Still got the orange rims in the rafters of the garage..........
Big H* Posted November 8, 2011 Share Awesome to see older bikes getting a second chance on life. One question though...it seems like the stanchions the Marzocchi fork are the wrong way around...is that on purpose? I fixed them, two nuts at the bottom, the two spring retaining nuts at the top and loosened the stem. A 15 minute job. She does not anymore look as dumb as her owner now.
