Hi - I live in the UK and have entered for the Argus in 2008. My parents live in Somerset West where I will be based. As I am ariving a week or so before the event I hope to get some training rides in - would appreciate advice on whether the road from S West to Stellenbosch and beyond (which I have driven on a few times) is safe for road riding/training - I will be riding on my own unless I can hook up with any local riders - Thanks in advance

You obviously dont attack the rolling hills hard enough. And' date=' theres hellshoogte just afterwards if you're still fresh..[/quote']

ha, you should see me attack there! I throw my whole fat body in those stupid little hills but they just don't want to go away!

And then the tarmac is so rough and then hellshoogte....you'll find me at the neelsie eating a monster muffin when you return! Big%20smile

I'd rather warn you...that road is so booring!

I agree - if I have to look at the mountains and sea one more time I am going to go mad. I can only appreciate so many whales in the bay. As for those baboons - what pesky little creatures they are.

And who wants to look at row upon row of vineyard. And don't get me started on all those foreign pros who think they own the place!!

Seriously now - what level of rider are you John? There is a group of riders that meet most week day mornings in SSW, and on weekends. Their blog is:

well, say what you want! Going to Stellenbosch it's boring, going in the oppsoite direction, yes, you have a nice view at the end but that doesn't make the road you are on nicer or more challenging. There's much nicer roads to ride on and enjoy.

How does a number of pro's on that road make it nicer?

Did I step on your small toe?
