mapit Posted November 7, 2011 Share If you're riding the 94.7 Cycle Challenge, check out an interactive web map showing the route, refreshment stations and medical points, route profile, twitter feeds, streetview and directions around road closures. If you'd like to see additional features please let us know! We are offering live tracking for charities this year but we hope to bring live tracking to all race riders, particularly important for supporters and family. Let us know if you are interested in this... Hope you enjoy and good luck for last days of training. See you at the race MapIT

mapit Posted November 7, 2011 Share For the live tracking, as it is on the site today it's using our partner Altech Netstar Boomerang units, but these can be pricey for the individual. So we are building a mobile app that will use your phone GPS to track your location. Then your supporter/family member will be able to log onto a mobi site and check out how far you've cycled, your location and when you'll most likely finish. Great for finding you at the end! The GPS does take up quite a bit of battery life on your phone but will last at least 9 hrs which is plenty of time for a race like this.
mapit Posted November 7, 2011 Share looks good - live tracking would be great for the kids... Yes especially for the kids race, we havent built a route for it this yet but with the live tracking we will most definitely look into it.

Minion Posted November 7, 2011 Share It would be really cool if you took Streetview imagery from the whole route and made it into a video of the course.
mapit Posted November 7, 2011 Share Any such luck for the MTB route? We unfortunately havent done a route for this, however again for live tracking we will look into this. We've provided this route only for the road event because the road closures were so important but the functionality of the site has really grown since then. Will let you know the progress of this. Gman1834 Posted November 7, 2011 Share How is the livetracking going to work ? do you kit out riders with GPS receiver and cell phone ? Let me guess: you pay extra $$$ for a gps sender, do the race, then give it back. after the race you here the server crashed and only some people could do tracking.
