Rear Hub ball bearing sound

my new campy wheels sound really wicked!! pretty loud, reminds me of the sounds the boys on their Pinnarello's are making

It's the sound of the freehub pawls sliding over the ratchet. If it's a ball bearing sound, something has gone terribly wrong.

Campag wheels are know for being quite loud when freewheeling. The hollow SRAM Red cassette is also supposed magnify the sound.

 

If you don't like the sound, you can reduce it by taking off the freehub and putting a whole lot of grease around the ratchet. My wheels are almost silent when freewheeling because of this.

What kind of rear hubs gives that ball bearring sound when you not pedalling?

Not sur e about road hubs... but Chris King, Hope and Industry 9 each have a distinct sound. Shimano hubs, on the other hand, are quite quiet.
