There are visuals of Australian fielders throwing the ball - even from mid-off - into the pitch and Haddin backtracking so that it bounces before he collects. There is a clear law against that, which has outlawed deliberate bouncing of the ball to roughen it up. It is up to the umpires to decide what is deliberate, and I think they have been concerned about that aspect of Australia's game.
