Faf must be pulling his hair out with the pitches prepared for the last two tests.

Centurion was slow the way India like it and we had to play really well to win that one. Now, this pitch which makes almost any bowler unplayable negates any advantage of having faster bowlers than them.

When you visit India there is no way they level the playing field for you.

We badly need a partnership of 50 or more. Somebody needs to stay with # or we'll wind up behind the 8 ball.

And as I praise Rabada he gets out. Job done though. He can be well pleased with his 30 of 84.

More or less matches Kumar’s effort with the bat

The Mighty Hash delivers a mighty 50

Probably better than Kumar's since he was facing the new ball.

# wonderful batter. Hoping Philander and Phehlukwayo can stick with him for long enough for us to get a decent lead. This pitch damned difficult to bat on and any lead could be crucial.

Very handy 27* by The Vern

Bounce brutal in its unpredictability.

Amla's 120 ball innings - priceless.

Ja that uneven bounce may just be the deciding factor in this match. And I wouldn't consider it unfair if the BCCI queries the ICC on the rating of this pitch. Not sure I'd call it a cricket wicket.

Here's to hoping Philander and Phehlukwayo can get us a lead. 20 to 30 will do. Just enough to build pressure.

Overheard on the telegraph that it's a Wednesday start due to the tight scheduling as influenced by the Indian bureaucrats.

Was originally due to be 4 tests

So 1 test had to fall off and 1 ODI added

Of course, the tight schedule bit the visitors in the bum-bum as they lacked match practice on African soil.

If I have a heart attack remind me to send the bill to the Lions. :whistling:

Loads of to-ing and fro-ing. Tense tense test cricket on a difficult uneven fast pitch!

But plenty of bruises for both # and Pujara. That sharp rising ball into the body hard to negotiate at times. Again, one bloody tough pitch to bat on.
