I was wondering how good are the BMC bikes, specifically the mountain bikes?

I often see a few at race but don’t know too much about the brand.

The Tour de France was won on one ;)

BMC road bikes are very good but i don't know to much about their mtb range.I have been to the factory to see the Impec getting built and got to test ride it.

The people who work there are passionate about cycling and most do race to.

I have a Fourstroke 03 and I'm very happy with it. The suspension is set up firm and its almost like a hard-tail, but without the sting. Pedals without any noticeable bob, climbs well and handles much better than my old hard-tail. The finish and quality on the frame is very good.

I think the main reason why we don't see more of these bikes (the FS 01 & 02 anyway) is because they are so expensive.

Apparently the slightly slacker head angle on the MTB gives it a slightly longer wheelbase, making it quite stable and lowering the center of gravity, while still keeping it fast and nippy. Those that ride BMC MTBs seem to love them. And they are super light.
