Disc Brake replacement

Pittstop

Recommended Posts

Looking at moving my Juicy's off my downhill bike onto another bike and looking at options on what to replace them with.

Options at the moment are an older set of 2008 Avid Codes, then a slightly more expensive option of 2011 Codes or 2012 XT brakes.

The older codes need a bit of work, but looking at possibly doing a good upgrade and getting something newer.

I've got the new XT's and my riding partner has Codes. XT's maybe have a bit more "feel". Codes look a bit cooler for a DH bike I'd say. Same stopping power on both. Either way you can't go wrong. Both extremely good sets.

 super jealous!

I'm wanting some limited edition X2's...

then I'd posibly save the limited edition green bits, and replace the piston cap and levers with the red ones.

Kinda like these in reverse

EDIT: Like this with red levers

I see the Tech lever has been revised for 2012. They call it Tech EVO. The claimed result is 15% more stopping power.

Imagine V2s with more power :o dentures are going to fly out mouths!

Omegaman... you gonna get the ltd editions? They're about R200 more per side on CRC I think?!

Jees that's a tough one. I'm deff gonna get the braided hose ones. And then the question is V2 or M4. 4 = more but is that better?

yeah... braided hoses for sure! regular hoses on Hope brakes just look unnatural!

You could always mix it up. The levers are the same... and then maybe run a M4 front, and a V2 rear. Like a superbike, hahaha!

But yeah... as far as I know the V2's are more powerful than the M4s, even though they have half the pistons.

EDIT: I see there are guys that run FR rigs with the M4 up front and the X2 at the rear

V2's with Vented rotors... that should be the ultimate!
