Whatever the reasons there is 1 thing to remember....

When your a pro or elite in a racing bunch, the only thing that matters is your placing, and even more so, did you win or not. Time is irrelevant.

The rest of the race/ride is a funride where all that matters is the time you rode.

So you can't compare the 2. If you wanna race for the win, get into the racing bunch.

I do agree it seems an amazing feat to ride that time all by your own.......male or female.

Wasnt # group tandems? so she piggy backed the male rider for a good result, but shows as individual for this report.

Riding out of HH or D you can wheelsuck any fast male, but since there are HH no results ahead of her he either pulled off, or the result is wrong.

"Wheelsucking" on something flat like, Lost City, might be easy, but on 94.7 route, you have to be pretty strong to stay with the leading MALE riders, and finish 5th of your group! That in my book is SERIOUS talent! Keep in mind these are girls training a hour, 1.5 hours a day?

Well then not only is she a strong rider, but also possesses amazing riding skills, i started in H group and constantly had to weave between cyclists, starting in HH would require much more.

Maybe it is Caster Semenya who entered under a false name?

I'm referring to D group

As I mentioned before - in 2007 Jo was 9 mins faster than the first Elite women. You CAN'T compare the 2 groups! She got 4th in D group, but did not try win the group, but just made sure she was the first open women. Sadly there was/is NO prize money for Open women, which I don't agree with!

You definately need talent to stay with the front D men that's for sure!

So well done Carin!

I got chicked by Chrissie Wellington and plenty other Tri women at IM this year and I don't mind admitting I've been 'chicked" on plenty of occasions in bike races. :D

Why suspect, she is a visiting foreigner who enjoys her bike and racing in Europe, decided to ride the race

Is this confirmed? If so, regardless of gender, that is one extremely impressive ride. To start in HH and ride away from her group and any other group she would have caught, work her way through all the traffic along the route and finish with a faster time than the winning time of every group after A. How many Hubbers could TT the route through the traffic faster than that?

Ps. Luckily I finished faster, so I wasn't "Chicked", but still not sure about this.

Same again at the West Coast Express:

Who was the fastest lady in the 85km? Maroesjka Matthee averaging 38.99 kmph and getting podium?

No, in fact it was a 45yo, Tina Brenzel who beat Maroesjka by 3 minutes and averaged 40.04 kmph. She was in our G group all the way from start to finish.

Tina, I salute you.
