Cool blogspot, Supersix 3...

Glad you came out to ride with the Northerners.

^_^

I look forward to the race reviews of this course.

It is gonna be a super test of racing tactics.

Despite spending the last 25kms of the Tour de PPA in pain, swearing at the wind and heat, and absolutely deciding I wouldn't be back to ride that stretch of the R304 again any time soon, especially not the 99er .... I've gone and entered and am bizarrely looking forward to a rematch with the beast. Amazing what a couple of days good rest and refueling can do!

You are a better man than me (or I'm a bit more savvy :D ) After doing the new 99'er route on a training ride, I've realised I must wash my hair on the day of the race, and cannot ride it. <_<

It is one brute of a route, and if (no, rather how strong) the SE is blowing, it is going to become exponentialy more difficult over those last 30 odd km.

Haha - nice one! I've also been contemplating some serious hair washing that day - but I know I'll regret not going. I've never managed to get up Vissershoek without walking some of the way - I go back each year in the vain hope it won't be as steep as I remember.

With the pain and suffering of last years race up Vissershok and Odendaal Str still fresh in my memory banks I will unfortunately not be making it to the race on time this year. I am expecting a very important telephone call from my granny living in Germany that day

Yip, like I said to TinyK and 'Dale, I now pick my fights, and I can see which ones I'm gonna take a beating in. Those are the ones I avoid.

As they say, with age comes wisdom! :D

I would love to be there for this sufferfest.

Just confirmed my travel to the Northern hemisphere.

It is one of my home events starting here in the 'hood.

Pity to miss this beaut!

The recce was a very useful exercise in simulation.

The trick is to keep enough in the tank (about 30%) for that last stretch from the N7 - that is the toughest stretch. The extra 15Km is not making it any easier either - roller upon roller for that stretch!

Come on man.... pull an Alzheimer's (with your age claim) about Vissers and come join the ride

Errrr .... I think I'm gonna need a bigger tank then. Can't seem to find any listed on BuyCycle or CRC. Google did find this one though, but I'm not sure it's quite the right sort of bicycle tank
