Rumble Strips on Cradle road (R540)

If you know of any cyclist (s) who had a crash over the past w.e due to the rumble strips please let us know.

 

8 riders came off - and all cases were separate incidents.

These strips didn't seem like the cleverest idea.

Judging by the name when you go over them they jolt a driver awake and stop them from passing onto the wrong side of the road?

It's for sleepy motorists, not cyclists.

 

You should both stay off the yellow line!

 

***Seriaaasly now. If you dose off, are sms texting, have dropped your cheeseburger in your lap, and your vehicle strays over the yellow line, you clip these, and it wakes you up to the fact.

 

At least it is supposed to.

 

Likewiseish: If you are on your tubbies, and you dose off, are sms'ing, or can't hold your line, and you stray to yellow, you clip these, it also wakes you up.

Hmm, tough one...

 

But honestly now, what would a cyclist be doing on the yellow line, I have to agree that they deserve it (if they crash) for possibly putting themselves and others in danger.

Small price to pay for a lesson, although I guess now they've been taken away some people will go back to their old ways.
