In the Sodwana bay camp itself there are no trails that I know of, you could ride around the camp and between the tents I guess, but dont be surprised if someone takes you out with a frying pan for riding over his tarp or muddying his tent, Sodwana at this time of year is extra busy and space is at a premium so its jealously guarded. :)

You could find a few trails outside the camp I guess, but personally I wouldn't ride alone outside the camp, if theres a few of you maybe its okay, but alone and chances are you will encounter issues.

As Kransie says you can ride on the beach but only above the high water mark or on the Dunes, not much fun either way.

Rather take your Scuba or fishing gear a few beers and relax on the beach.

Indeed, there are often traffic jams just going to the beach,..... probably more dangerous than riding at home. :D

Yech.........reminds me of an equally unpleasant weekend spent at Wondergat

I was in Sodwana last week and, although i didn't have my bike, I definitely kept an eye out for good places to ride in future.

The only place is on the beach. Everywhere else is SOFT beach sand and there is ABSOLUTELY no fun in riding that. The beach however looks like an AWESOME place to ride. The line between the high and low tide is huge and seems really hard underfoot.

That said, the first 2km's or so will be bad as that is the section where vehicles are allowed. Thereafter you have MILES of beach without a single foot print on it. It really is a nice place to go even if it's not for the ride but rather the experience.

I took this picture on the beach. Nothing but beach for MILES AND MILES!

What no 4x4's on the beach? Can't be Sondwana! And nice day nogal :o last 2 times I have been down there I had lousy weather, storms etc left early since scuba in those conditions is not pleasant.

But back to biking, riding in the surf is not such a great idea imo because that salt water is so corrosive, and any coastal car owner will testify.

You can ride from Ozabeni to the Sodwana Camp

Ozabeni is part of Ezemvelo KZN and sits directly adjacent and inland to Sodwana, I drove through there a few years ago-really awesome landscape-flat with little forested dune koppies and zebra and such game roaming around. You'll be riding on jeep track and will have to do a few river crossings.

I would recommend pairing up-security could be an issue.

The Ozabeni turnoff is on the right a few kilometers before Mbazwana coming from HluHluwe

Enjoy
