is that really true, surely the cross section has way more to do with it than a few kgs here and there.

 

i wouldn't know myself, i have four bikes and heaviest one is actually the roadbike(13kg ocr3 - there's nothing wrong with sora, baby)

 

Minimising your drag into the wind is very significant but weight borne momentum, more especially downhill, also plays a small part.

No, that is not an urban legend, but the weights are not £dropped" into the seat tube. They actually fit into the feame. Different weights for different wheelsets to always have the bike exactly 6,8kg
