Broke a spoke on my 29er wheel last week. Shop has ordered on Tuesday and the message is that they don't have enough staff to deliver spokes to the shop.

Only next week will there be staff to do this. That is just terrible. They could have sent the stuff via speed services.

Can't wait to replace my wheels with something that shops carry as stock. Always an issue getting shimano specific spokes.

Useless!!!!!

My experience of Cool Heat Agencies (if that's who you are referring to) is quite the opposite. Knowledgeable and top service.

Doesn't your lbs keep spokes in stock?

Apparently no shops keep Shimano specific spokes in stock. And nothing else fits on the Shimano rims.

I just think it is terrible from Cool Heat to just shrug their shoulder and say, wait for next week when everyone is back at work again. Seems they are doing to well to be concerned.

+1 I think some slack is acceptable this time of year - especially when ordering the part the day after the xmas break.

Me - I keep a few spokes of every wheelset I have - it saves exactly this kind of over reaction.

Therein lies the answer. Don't go too far from your lbs with those wheels (or carry a spoke or two if you do ;)

I hope you get sorted out

Sorry for the over reaction then.

Next time when servers crash and people can't log in I will also use the excuse that it's that time of year and slack is acceptable.

Any case, I just thought is was terrible.

Guess it's just me, then.

Sorry Cool Heat!

Ai ai - computer nerds - they're a volatile bunch

The frustration of not riding is harsh. My solution? Own more than 1 bike or at least more than one set of wheels for your bike. 7 is a good number :D

I broke a spoke on my Shimano road bike on Tuesday. Took the rim in that afternoon and got it back the next day, spoke replaced and straightened the rim. If the lbs does not carry stock how were they able to replace it so quickly?

Not only Shimano, i broke a spoke last week and my LBS could not get a DT Swiss spoke as the agents were on holiday, ended up he took one off a demo bike and fitted it to my wheel, Cost ??? nothing. The joys of knowing your LBS.

Then you are really lucky. Plus I think that more LBS's carry shimano road wheel spokes than MTB spokes.

i give them credit for actually being open... most suppliers are still on break

I would have been better if they weren't open. A bit pointless being open and not being able to do anything?

Hmm... So in staying with the scenario above you are loosing out on R100,000's because you are not able to cycle (?) You cant equate the loss of sale of a 50 buck spoke to the financial implications of a server being down...

Still feel your pain though.

Depends on whether your spoke was a shimano specific spoke or standard style spoke.
