Im in the process of creating a report on the top road cyclists in SA. In order to do this, I obviously need stats. So far I have found www.racetec.co.za which has a pretty impressive log of all races and cyclists. is this the best place to obtain this information? Any other sites?

Thanks guys

On the old cyclelab website - that is the national seeding... unfortunately, that is limited to electronically times races. The racetec website is great especially for W/Cape based riders as all road races organised by PPA are timed by them thumbup1.gif

Thanks Scotty. Pity it only gives rankings and no other information though.

Road Race results are timed by the big 2 Racetec and Championchip (www.championchip.co.za), then there are smaller players like Spectrum and Mr Price..

Racetec/PPA/ have an incestuous cartel relationship whereby any event that is not timed by Racectec is not eligible for Argus and from last year 94.7 seeding, One cannot rely on Racetec/PPA seeding as the majority of races take place outside WC and are not only timed by Racetec.

The Cyclelab seeding ignored every event I've ever done barring 2 arguses. So my seeding there is based upon perhaps 4% of my races.

Agreed there... only thought about that now - the only results I have up are Burger, 99'er and two Argus's... pretty much the results cycletour take into account.

On that note, I see that they still have not included 2011's Burger results.

Thanks for the help guys. The post is up: http://cyclinginfo.c...-december-2011/

@milky4130 it would have been nice to see stats such as "races entered", "won", "top 3" next to the information they supply on CycleLab but I suppose I can cross-reference with Racetec, possibly.

If you type in each one of the names into the search on the Cyclelab seeding, you can see their index and all the races that are used in the calculation (just click on their name after searching). I think they take the best three to calculate the seeding.

Good luck

Yup,

What about top road cyclists who compete overseas for part of the year... else change the subject to top cyclists competing in SA...

And what about the women?

Yup, that's next on the to do list. along with top MTB Men and MTB Women
