Caerus Posted January 15, 2012 Share I got back from Cape Town yesterday to find that my XTR Cassette & Chain had rusted(surface rust) on the drive back, which I cannot understand, as I had washed and lubed the chain before I left. I did go through long periods of rain while driving back, so I can assume it was from this. My other bike was fine (XT chain & cassette), and was washed and lubed at the same time as the rusted chain & cassette Why would this happen and what can I do to sort it out? Do you suggest letting it soak in some parrafin and scrub with a wire brush, or just a brush with hard bristles?
