Garmin edge 500 alternate bike displays?

Does anyone know if you can have different displays on this unit per bike - I know u can have different bikes (up to 3 I think) but I cannot seem to have different display - I.e. I want cadence to display for my road bike when selected and not to display when I select my mtb bike...?

Nope you cant. Not per bike.

 

There are 3 different pages, each page display up to 8 bits of information.

Set it up to display what you want to see on your road bike on page 1, mtb page 2 and all the other fancy goodies and averages on page3, easy.

Thanks tankman - I have done that but then what is the point of having the ability to select different bikes - a friend has the 305 and it has this functionality? Surely this is not just an oversight?

I think the 305 has got slightly more space so they can fit in a few more tricks n things...

The point is, get another speed/cadence sensor! That way you dont have to worry about a blank piece of info

 

The point of having 3 different bike profiles is also that you do not need to pair & rescan your speed/cadence sensor everytime you switch between bikes. Also each bike profile is different in weight (used in calorie calculation) and total km's. I have a cadence sensor on each bike and find it a useful function.

 

It would have been nice to change between profiles via a shortcut button like on the 305 though but unfortunately each of the buttons on the 500 serves a different purpose already ... we discussed this on the Garmin forum a while back, it doesnt seem possible
