For those of you who have a Nokia with an internal GPS a la 6110 & N95 or similar check this software out

and

I don't use the phone as a computer on the bike. I start it and leave it in my back pocket because I can't find a suitable mount i.e. one that is waterproof and isn't too goofy looking. But it really does have a nice display. Now all they need to do is make it compatible with the PT 2.4 hub using bluetooth and it will be one of the coolest combinations around.

You can even plot the track in real-time.

hagar, the Nokia N95.  Usually the GPS drains the batt, but it seems like this app is better.  I'll try it when I ride to Vdbp on Tuesday, see if the battery lasts.

i was looking at the phone e80 i think it was that gave you the gps modem with the phone but it was not too practical to carry all that stuff with you on the bike so i went for the edge 305 and n73 but want to get another phone the n73 is not so hot a pain in the butt.

Thuggie, that's wrong.  Should be 04:24.  The workout screen on my profile is correct, so it seems like they took GMT.

Hagar, I had the Edge and did not like it.  Not enough info (I'm not talking about maps, etc.  More the s/w on the PC).  Got the N95 because I could and now I have the best of both worlds.  Nokia just needs to iron out some problems and get a application to download to on the local machine.

I don't know, probably a personal thin.  I just found that the Polar gives more and better info.  Yes, I know it doesn't have the GPS part, but I don't really use that.  And you can't use maps to get you to and from places (like the Nuvi 200).  So I'll stick to my Polar thanks!

ewep you can use the mapsource software and make a route on your pc then transfer it to your garmin and you can navigate by means of weighpoints. You just dont have the voice thingie but you can navigate with a bit of downloading i did it when my mom was in hospital in cape town.

the mapsource is quite handy on your pc too i used it when i went to the shova to get to the b&b i was staying at as well. got some family out of capetown when they got lost coming from the airport to saldanha they took the wrong turn and i guided them through milnerton .Big%20smile

I get 4 hours out of a fully charged N95. The other GPS apps on the N95 also used to drain the battery quite quickly but I think that this was addressed with a firmware upgrade for the phone itself. Don't think that it is a app thing.

Cool huh? I am hoping that they are going to go the whole hog and make it compatible with the PT 2.4 etc.
