Hi Frail, how is the shoulder feeling? You must be doing OK (or you are much crazier and tougher than me ;) ) if you rode this morning!

CRAZY NO Way! More like Addicted to Cycling and PAIN?

Shoulder is Okish, little pain still comes and goes. Fitness is so so. I have still been commuting these last 2 weeks, ONLY 2 Days rest after fall. Still had to get to Work, Job is Not very demanding. Only racing 2 Events per month. I am Still UPSET about missing the Cobra, As I am a Strong Goat and Love the HILLS!

okay...my race...

Woke up this morning feeling a bit weak (had a stomach bug Thursday to Saturday) with a stiff upper leg...went out in the race, sat in the bunch to about 30km in, was a attacked by some City Cycling club rider and a Cedar rider...I worked myself quickly from the middle of the bunch to the front...and then bridge the gap which was about 500m (Big mistake) where a few riders followed...we had a nice brake then the bunch got back to us...so sat in the front working a bit, I knew I didnt have the legs today but will help where I can, so worked in the front so touristvista and Grant can save some energy....touristvista done a attack where I wanted to follow before Botmas but got boxed in...for some reason they marked me (As Spat mentioned)...anyway went okay over, felt my power just not being there, worked more and more with some Ashes & Brown guy, think his name is David....started getting dehydrated and with about 15km to go stopped for nice ice cold water to fill my bottle with a other DeVere guy (forgot your name, sorry)....chased the bunch almost in again and think they only managed a minute or 2 on me in the end...but overall a very tiring ride, will be resting now and go back to the training board....will be back at the Rollercoaster all ready...awesome experience over Botmas though, my climbing aint that bad since dropping 13kg's since November :D

Spat, Touristvista, Grant & friend......you guys done well.

Tiny, unless you take a "flyer" ala Dennis (difficult to do in the final stretch) you are going to find it near impossible to ride away from the guys on the final stretch. Best would be to position you in the front part of the bunch and then time your final burst of speed so that you overtake the guys in the last few meters. Difficult to do, impossible to practise, but with more experience you should get it right. Congrats on your ride today.

My plan isn't to get away, but to go over the line first. I stand and can keep it going for about 150 to 200m before I get to max and then sit and push on further but not as intense. My legs burn until the point that I cannot go anymore, and then sit.

Got no answer to that one. Best would be to speak to a knowledgeable coach that can give you the correct training technique to overcome the legs burning at the end.

In any case, you improved by leaps and bounds, to be able to contest for the win in the A bunch, and that only after two years of serious cycling.

Botmas 4 - 0 Me

I'll get your number from Angus and we'll go for some easy repeats in the off-season - to get rhythm, timing and headspace right.

*grin*
