I went and visited the 10m yesterday whilst testing out my new plastic bike. No, I did not try it... I was not appropriately kitted, didn't have witnesses/ambulance-callers and as I said, I was on the plastic AM bike...

...but it's looking good Peach! Did you guys use Round-up to clear the run in, or just good old fashioned spade work? I saw quite a few tyre marks in the landing, so I'm guessing you did it a few times?!

Good old fashioned spade, always does a better job.

Did it 3 times, first 2 i just cased, 3rd was smooth.

Trials jump is my trade mark so i can prove it was me

hahaha! nice! thought the run in looked spade-smooth! I should have my DH bike up and running soon.

When you cased... did it buck you, or was it hardly an issue on the DH bike?

You and Super_mil racing Helderkruin this coming weekend? Dawie and the gang have built some cool new stuff. A hip-to-rockface/wallride type thing and a nice ski jump near the end.

A few of us found 2 "ant hills" perfectly positioned for a jump, so after a wee bit of "shaping" it was time to give it a test run.

Really fun jump, not too hectic but you need a bit of speed.

Video to follow soon

And what about the ants?

All good, no man made structures, just shaped a pile of sand in the park, its like riding off a pevement

If someone is stupid enough to ride it without looking at it then they deserve to get hurt.

There will be. Remmeber the North Shore stuff and the flip flop bridges. There's an idiot born every day that's going to hurt himself on that stuff...

Awesome! I'm keen to try sometime soon! And if I end up like Mr. Middleton, do I get free breakfast?

As for Helderkruin, I'll also just ride the saturday. You can't pass up and opportunity to shuttle up the Kruin.

Hi patches and peach What is Helderkruin like, seen it pop up on the hub but no clue whats out there???????

Hi BikeBailing,

Helderkruin is a downhill course just off Graphite rd in the Wilropark/Helderkruin suburb. It's pretty rocky with a few trademark obstacles. 2 of which are the ski jump into rock garden, and "the shoot" (a drop off onto rocks).

As far as DH courses go, it's pretty short. The top riders put in times of just over 1min.

This saturday and sunday is the 1st of the gaunteng provincial DH races, at helderkruin. If you're keen to come see what it's all about, come along for practice on saturday from about 9am. There'll be a shuttle, and that alone makes it worth a trip there

If there are any other specifics you'd like to know, drop me a PM.

Thanks Patches, unfortunately can't make it through. However, I have been very keen to come through to see you guys ride the Spruit for sometime. Need a motivation boost in my efforts to move into the DH arena and I think seeing some guys hitting some nice jumps will help :w00t:

And what about the ants?

The ANTS have already begun the covert reshaping of the jumps. "A little off the lip here, no, a little more, right!"

"A little more onto that lip there, nope a little more, slightly off camber right, good, good."

"Stand back gentlemen! - Here one comes...."""

  :D :D :D ***sound of a million ants laughing as Peach buries himself to the top cap !"

Sneaky little buggers....
