Apparently, this is touted as the response to Shimano's

XTR Shadow Plus rear mech, which utilises a clutch to reduce chain whip(noise) and thus reducing the chances of a dropped chain.

wonder if that metal bit barely sticking out around the black lump is the 'clutch'. In the first set of pictures above, it looks further out, than in the photo immediately above.

nort dude it wouldnt be one of these ... this is new tech that is still a prototype - it hasnt come out on sale yet. Unless the oke you saw was one of the top blackbox program pros it must have been something else.
