I don't think you can go wrong with either, go with the one you prefer. Jason rekons I-Links are fantastic, I have Nokon and they are damn nice with plenty bling factor. I can't comment on I-Links but I bought Nokon purely because a lot of weight weenie bikes and bike porn shots have Nokon cables and the bling capabilities of Nokons make my bike unique.

Shocked Shimano cables both gear and brake are designed to work as a complete system with STI, rear derailer etc etc. Whilst these Nokon cables mite look very bling they are not designed to work with Shimano or give ultimate shifting or brake performance. Sis means Shimano intergrated System or STI means Shimano total intergration.Using non Shimano cables both inner or outer creates more stress and could render the warranty of Shimano components invalid. Why wate alot of money for something that looks bling but is not recommended

Your gear cable looks untidy as its already unwound itself and is too long. Suggest you get a gear cable outer cap aluminium from your local store.

Also get your dealer to check the length of your outer casing which goes from the frame into the rear derailer as it seems yours is too short creating huge drag and eventually blowing the STI lever and or giving you bad shifting performance.

Hi Steven, while I appreciate your views I must admit that I don't use Shimano on my bikes, my road bike has Campy and my mtb, Sram. Shimano is definately priced better than Sram ,but, I can not live with out the gripshift shifters on my mtb.

Steven, I have not replaced the cable 'cos the LBS does not stock suitable quality cables that matches the Nokon.

Carbon Boy, trust me i am not talking k--k.After many years of experience Shimano produce a product which rates far higher than lots of immitations and ciopies,we see the results every day of people using cables which simply dont work.Come and work at the Epic for 9 days and you will experience it all first hand.

steven, I'm not going to ask you to explain how different cables could create enough stress in the Shimano components to void the warranty. Instead, I say it is time to change to Campagnolo!
