No Name Funrider Posted December 25, 2007 Share FABULOUS!!!! at least this brings some christmas cheer to all the tragedies that have happened recently Good news a very respected guy;not only in cycling;the man who supposedly caused the damage ;is at home on bail?????it just does not make any sense;surely in this type of case the blood sample can be tested right away(for alcahol or drugs)also it was hit and run,in any other civilised country he would be in prison and sweating. steve Posted December 25, 2007 Share Sorry to hi-jack this thread a bit ................ but if I wanted to commit the perfect murder in SA I would make sure I'm over the limit and simply use the vehicle as a murder weapon. Chances are you won't even get to spend a night in jail, but if you shoot someone you have a problem. Bullet might miss, but a car is much bigger than a bit of lead. I don't remember a month of my life after suffering a head injury thanks to some drunkard who got off scott free!!! Its time drunk drivers faced the full force of the law. fees Posted December 26, 2007 Share I would like to see some serious punishment handed down to the coward who drove away after stopping 150m down the road to take the mangled bike out from under his car. Too many cyclists and runners are losing their lives as a result of these bad drivers.
slowpoke Posted December 29, 2007 Share nonamefunrider - good news that Glenn is out of hospital and getting better and not planning on letting this stop him from doing stuff in future. my views on what to do with the drivers in such instances have been discussed previously. personally i feel that anyone who causes such an accident should be forced to work in a morgue and SEE the bodies of victims. they should also be shipped to and from a jail/prison cell for the duration of this time and not be at home with their families - their victims are not at home with their families so neither should the perpetrator be. call it overdoing it, but i see no other way to reduce the carnage on the roads. but let us not hijack the topic - this thread is not about what should happen to the driver but rather to celebrate the fact that Glenn is getting better and was at home with his family for christmas which is very important for the majority of south africans
