2012 Ironman

Good luck to everyone.

A few of my friends are participating this year, so tommorow it is an early moring for us, to help them get all their stuff ready at the start line.

I live 1.2km from the start, and the wind is pumping at the moment. Lets hope the sea is calm tommorow morning.

I am sure that the athletes that put in the hard work will be on such a confidence high that foul weather will not derail their performance.

Apparently if the conditions are deemed unsafe for the swim, the format will be changed to 14km run/180km bike/28km run.

I will try to post updates on the weather from Hobie beach tommorow morning.

Ok so we had a few downpours last night.

It just started raining again.

The wind is a bit lighter than last night.

The rain stopped 20 min before the swim.

About 40-50min into the swim the wind picked up and the swim conditions became more difficult.

There is a very fresh west/north west wind blowing.

It is very cold

Wind really starting to pick up out at Seaview on the way to the bike turnaround. Temperature also dropping - it's cold out there, cyclists are struggling.
