Westerly wind will mean you will FLY on the cycle.

Well on the back end of the course at least. Through town, not so much.

When the conditions are really they bad they normally draw 10 names from a list of everyone doing the IM for the first time. Then they send these guys out on one of the swim laps before the race starts. Should 6 or more return then the race continues. If less than 6 swimmers retiurn they change it onto a Duathlon.

lol!!!! lucky i did not read that before my first.. would have wet myself

Good luck to everyone giving this a go. Hope the wind is not as hectic as the charts!

I wouldn't worry about the wave height. The period is more important. This tells you the volume of water between a midpoint to a crest through the trough and back to the midpoint. Period is what translates into big and powerful surf at the beach. The other bigger factor is the swell direction, which looks more westerly than from the south. Chances are the swell window for the bay means it will miss it all together. Maybe some PE surfer will know which direction is relevant and can give better insight there.

As an example though, 4m of swell at 8 secs period will be roughly half the size of swell in the exact same direction that is 1.5m and 15 secs.

End of waveforecasting lessons for today!

Not much of a runner, eh? Or is that in anticipation of bonking?

Is that allowed en route in Ironman?

Only is specially demarcated areas and under the supervision of a race referee
