fastlegs Posted February 14, 2012 Share The marshalls did an awesome job. Been also meaning to thank all the marshalls on bikes that ride with the weekend bunch in the south (kliprivier / swartkoppies), thanks for giving up your time. Its an amazing site to see so many guys/gals on their motorbikes with their brightly coloured vest on, escorting the bunches.
Frosty Posted February 14, 2012 Share AL @ 6:45% @ 6:51 - might be a minute out one way or the other, BL/VC caught them just after the bottom of the steps. % split from B/VC split up just after Heidelberg again. I missed the front of B/VC when the ladies neutralised their own race to split themselves from the men.VC @ 6:56 - BL caught them in 18km, but they were having tea according to some of themBL @ 6:59Thanks HEman - 3 minutes is a bit too smaller gap - it should be closer to 5 minutes. In 2008, the VC (40-44) caught the VB (35-39) in the same place (just before the steps)We (VB's) received numerous warnings, from the Comms, to stay out the VC's bunch - not that many of them listened. On paper, the VC's (50+) are just as quick, if not quicker than the BL bunch. There's no way the organisers can plan to prevent that from happening, the tjoppies must order take-away coffee next time. TNT1 Posted February 14, 2012 Share Where is The Steps in this race that is being referred too? When you leave alrode, the railway line on your left, there is a flyover bridge, a waterpoint, and you run down to the railway crossing, and on to the 4 way stop, the VTown highway on your right? From the top flyover down, over the railway crossing, on to the 4 way stop is more or less the steps.

It was my 1st Ride4Sight on Sunday.....I thoroughly enjoyed it and found everything perfect....especially winning the GL group!! yeah! I can't see how the organisers can be held responsible for the road conditions....the state of our SA roads is unfortunately going backward day by day...!! But, what do I know, I am only a MTB'er trying road racing....

I hope you'll enter the Carnival City Macsteel National Classic (Sunday, 26th) - entries close tonight. You'll see what organisers "that care about the cyclists" do about the potholes... not saying that the Ride for Sight organisers don't care, 'cause they do.
