i have the avalanche 1.0 2005 (silver wit red decals) model. I can get a zaskar race frame around 2001 i think (red and black).

i know/ think the zaskar geometry will be a racing setup? will it be much different.

if i build my bike over to the zaskar frame (16” 1.5kg) what will i gain...

weight approx. how much

geometry (I don’t understand this)

what would u recommend

Hey,

I think the difference will be quite big. The feel will be the biggest difference (ie the geometry). The avalanche is a good frame, but I think the zaskar will be better, slightly lighter and better suited to racing.

The avalanche has a very up-right and relaxed position, the zasker will feel more stretched out, will probably feel a lot better for climbing, etc.

If you interested in upgrading components as well, check out this built up bike. It will be quite a lot lighter than the avalanche 1.0 (I know cos I had one too).

I also did the avalanche to zaskar conversion, can't compare...huge difference as per everyone. Then upgraded components to full XT as they came on special over a year or two, rebuilt the avalanche and sold it off to a friend, who now rides a GT 29er hard tail.

Three biggest differences, fork, went to a Sid, crank, XT, and wheels to Richey Pro....eventually converted to disk, but did not help performance, only sore fingers on long descents.

Bike was super agile, climed like no tomorrow, and not that uncomfortable on +3hr rides.....
