Chain problems.

Hi all.

 

I have recently been experiencing problems with my chains outer links bending open and therefore resulting in a broken chain. It's happened twice in two months. Happens in big power stokes. Any ideas what could be the problem?

Seriously could be a few things.. just guessing..bad batch of chains .. bad gear changes on big power strokes,.. back wheel not exactly aligned..to much play on cassette.

You by any chance crossing chain, i.e. riding big blade front and big cog rear at times? Could weaken links that then pop under power.

I usually have my gears set up and ready for climbs. only change when I know its ok to do so. I have been riding long enough to know not to cross the chain.

Have a look to see that you do not have a bent tooth on one of the chainrings or the cassette.
