Rock Shox Fork Lock-out switch getting Sticky

My 2008 Revelation 140mm Rock Shox Fork Lock-out switch is getting Sticky.

It works fine but does not snap back into place its all sluggish and now doesn't fully return immediately but the lockout does dis-engage.

I'm using the bar mounted switch - its not the cable or bar switch that's making it sticky , I have taken them off and that did not solve the problem.

I have tried taking the lock-out valve adjuster knob and the lockout engaging thingy that the cable attaches to off and given everything a good clean and worked in some lube but it did not help.

Is my fork starting to get faulty? It works perfectly in all other ways.

Hasn't had a major service for a good while but has had regular lowers service.

Any one recognize a problem or is it just in need of a major service?

Anything I can do to sort it out myself?

Ima very handy wiv da tools!

I'm starting to have the same problem with my Rock Shox Reba Race. Let me know if you get a solution otherwise it looks like it's service time!

I once posted extensive instructions here on how to fix the problem. Search for posts under my name, containing Motion Control Damper in the text. There were photos, measurements and all the stuff you need.

Thanks JB , is it this thread you are referring to :

I had a brief look, it's not that one. However, I can't find the right one.

There are lots of tips in there though, such as identify the source fo the friction first. Remove the damper as described and see if the turn mechanism on top turns freely and snaps back nicely. If not, you have to fix it.

The damper's body (the red thing or nowadays black or even metal), has a circumference of 24mm. I made a nylon clamp that holds it in a vice, you may want to hold it with a can-fruit opening strap or similar. Then unscrew the black to from the red damper by turning it clockwise. This is important because it is a left-hand thread. Once the black top is off, you'll notice where the shaft turns in it and you'll notice dirt and burrs.

Fix that, replace, fiddle with the spring 'till it is in position and replace it all with a new cable and cable housing.
