Is this the "Dr Sludge" stuff? Then I can say it is great. I do not know of any puncture that I've ever had.

This could hardly be useful information. The OP wanted to know if the product works. Although you've purchased it, you've never had the opportunity to put it to the test since you've never had a puncture.

On the other hand, if you frequently puncture and the product seals the hole without fuss, then it's another story.

JB, I've got the Dr Sludge pre-filled tubes. I mean if I've had a puncture, I do not know about it. I'm sure I've had quite a few but I've never needed to do anything about it. So the stuff do work.

if it's the bright green stuff then i know it works - had some really interesting thorns in my tyres a couple of years back in clarens (adventure race so serious bundu-bashing was involved) and it worked like a dream. i sold the bike about a year later witht he same tubes and tyres still going strong

No it is not Dr Sludge. This is a product that is made in South Africa and it comes in a yellow bottle. i have not done the Cape Epic myself but a friend that has done them all has completed them all without having to stop and fix a flat

chris g, I used Sludge before my tubeless conversion, and it worked a charm.  I took the weirdest stuff out of my tubes when I eventually had to change them.

I sometimes mix the stuff with my Stans as well in the conversion (a bit superstisious).

for the epic, i would suggest going tubeless.

Go tubless, PERIOD, whether for the Epic or not.  I've got a Stans (with some Sludge) conversion on my MTB and I've never looked back (except after buckling the wheel!)

Um, the fact that he's never HAD a puncture shows that it is a good product. He said he's never been aware of a puncture that he's had, isn't that he whole point of a good sealant?

Sealant that works for me is ProBike sealant, purchased at Makro for not more than R30.

Mix... Don't know really Smile I'll just add some Windowlene (glass cleaner) which keeps it liquid, much better than water, so that its pretty runny, like Stans.

Another thing that I've done before is to buy liquid latex from a crafts shop (R50), and to mix Windowlene into that. That gives you something very similar to Stans/Joes, and you can get ALLOT more out of it.
